Project Updates

After several years of collaboration with and feedback from the City of San Jose and the community, we are excited to break ground on Tamien Station in 2023. Our first task is to clear and grade the project site, shortly followed by the installation of utilities such as water, sewer and storm drains, telephone, and electricity through September 2023. Vertical construction will continue for the next two years with phase one construction expected to be completed in July 2025.

No, the Tamien VTA Light Rail and Caltrain stations will remain open during construction.

The affordable housing portion of the project is being developed by The Core Companies in partnership with Valley Transportation Authority.

Now that construction has begun, you can visit our website for the latest updates on the project. Additionally, transit riders and interested parties can sign up for email updates or follow us on social media.

Existing parking will largely remain open during the beginning of construction.  We will utilize a portion of the east side parking lot, however, VTA is confident there will be ample parking for daily transit riders, with both the east and west side lots remaining open. If parking availability changes, we will provide advance notice. Please refer to the project website for any updates on parking.
